Fall Fishing with Returning Clients!

These fine gentlemen have been down here many times and come in the fall precisely because of the uniqueness of this time of year for the seasoned salt water fly fishermen. These and many other photos tell the story of multiple double digit days on the fly. Many fish were caught during a stretch of stellar days on the

Fall fishing is ago!

The last four weeks have contained a great number of fine weather fishing days. Low winds and tailing red, while always a possibility, commonly occur throughout the fall months. Considering the fact that the daytime temps are so pleasant, I am always quick to encourage clients to get down here this time of year for a great opportunity to catch your first redfish on a fly rod.

The first photo below is a happy client on his first saltwater fly fishing trip on the Lower Laguna Madre. As you can see, he accomplished his goal! I have been so busy, I am just now getting the opportunity to publish this report.

TIFT

Day two of the 74th Texas International Fishing Tournament!
I look forward to Chris's regular visits to the LLM and my opportunity to have him on my boat. A great few days on the water! Many tailing reds, several hours dodging the rain, and some fine conversation....See you next year Chris!

Late Summer on the Lower Laguna Madre!

Joe Eck caught this fine red on his first day as the sun was coming up! A good few days on the water!

Summertime Fishing!

Just a quick note to say we had another great day of throwing to tailing redfish for most of the morning with low winds and clear skies. Here is a picture of Kyle with a large fish that was tailing in 8 inches of water just a few minutes before the photo.

The fishing has been great! Come on down!

Summertime Fly Fishing has been Great!

Most of you know how much I enjoy guiding anglers in search of their first redfish on a fly rod. That is why I was so excited to have Mark and Bart down here for a couple of days out on the bay. Great company and fine fly fishing days make an absolutely perfect pairing!

We launched the skiff very early both days in spite of the fact that no one really goes where we are able to go in the Newater Boatworks Stilt. The low tides and low winds brought a smile to my face as we headed down the Arroyo each morning with barely enough light to navigate. The days did not disappoint! Tailing reds, backs out of the water, fish on the sand; all good signs that summer fishing patterns are in full force. This is a great time to go fly fishing. Hope you can make it down!

As yo can see, both Mark and Bart caught their first redfish on the fly and had a great time doing it. Congratulations gentlemen!

Bad Weather/Great Fishing!

We have been plagued this Spring with unusually consistent wind that has lasted through late May. I always tell clients that "it is not the wind that will shut us down, but the cloud cover". If you have any experience sight fishing on the flats you know what I mean regarding cloud cover.

So, yesterday at daybreak we had both wind and cloud cover. Two strikes. No worries. Anybody can catch fish on the good days. With a little patience and a great deal of experience to fall back on, we made it happen. Several healthy reds were caught on a day that kept many fly fishermen at home.

Come on down! The fishing has really turned on and the summer looks to be shaping up nicely.

Memorial Day Fishing

Truett and I went out on a blustery Memorial Day morning. In fact, I had discouraged a regular client's inquiry because of the forecast. Nonetheless, Truett and I were up for the challenge. We searched our familiar waters and found a unique scenario that barely caught our eye as we were motoring down the ICW. We caught several nice reds from the boat, considered ourselves fortunate, and pointed the skiff for home by 9 AM.

Another First!

As many of you know, one of my passions is  helping clients catch their first redfish on a fly. Congratulations Greg! The  weather conditions were tough yesterday, but you got it done!
